Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS) held its 51st Annual International Conference and Exhibitions on 15-20 March, 2015 at EKO Hotel & Suits, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria under the chairmanship of Prof. Clifford Songo Teme, fnmgs, NMGS President. During the conference, NSME President, Engr. B. O. Nwude, FNSME and other distinguished members received various awards from NMGS.

Engr. Benjamin O. Nwude, FNSME ,FNSE, FAutoEI, fnmgs, received the 2014 NMGS/MOSUNMOLU/DR. E. A. IFATUROTI AWARD “In recognition of his consistent and excellent contribution in general area of Mining and Mineral Resources Development in Africa”. He also received the NMGS Fellowship Award medallion and pin.

Engr. Bello Muhammad Bugaje, FNSME, fnmgs, who is currently the Registrar/CEO of Council of Nigerian Mining Engineers and Geoscientists (COMEG) won the 2015 NMGS/PTDF/RILWAN LUKMA AWARD “For his significant contributions to Mining and Geosciences Education and the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society”.

Engr. Prof. Stephen Jackdell Mallo, FNSME,FNSE, MON, who is the present acting Vice-Chancellor of the Plateau State University, Bokkos received the 2015 NMGS/VERSA-TECH/P. O. NWASIKE AWARD “In recognition of his contribution to promoting the career of young mining engineers and Geoscientists and distinguishing himself in the profession”.

Engr. Obadinah Simon Nkom, FNSME, fnmgs, who is a Director in Mining Cadastre Office was conferred with the prestigious Fellowship Award of the NMGS.

The entire membership of the Nigerian Society of Mining Engineers congratulates these distinguished members for their well-deserved honour and wishes them more feathers on their caps.
