Dr. E.O.A. Damisa, BSc, ACSM, MSc, PhD, FNSME

Dr. Ebenezer Ojo Aliu Damisa was born on 10 April 1961 and hails from Okengwe-Okene in Kogi State. He obtained BSc (Hons) degree in Mining from the Camborne School of Mines, England in 1985 and later obtained MSc and PhD degrees in Metallurgical Engineering, specializing in Mineral Processing from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

He has worked as a Lecturer in Mining Engineering and Mineral Processing Engineering at the Kaduna Polytechnic, where he rose through the ranks from the post of Assistant Lecturer to Chief Lecturer. He was on secondment from Kaduna Polytechnic to the Nigerian Institute of Mining and Geosciences (NIMG) Jos, as Director of Training and Deputy Provost and later as Ag. Provost between 2010 and 2014. In addition to lecturing, he has had various industrial experience on attachment in mines in Nigeria and abroad. These include: Great Condurrow Mine, Cornwall-England; King Edward Mine, Camborne- England; Holman Mine, Cornwall-England; Consolidated Tin Mines Ltd, Bukuru-Jos; National Iron Ore Mining Company, Itakpe, Kogi State; Goldfields Mining Company-Tarkwa Goldmine; Golden Star Bogoso/Prestea gold mine; Super Pit, Kalgoolie, Western Australia etc

On management and administration, he Head of Department (three terms); Departmental Examination Officer; College Examination Officer; Head of Section; Chairman Hostel Allocation Committee; Chairman New Equipment Certification Committee; Member Academic Board; Member Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee etc all at the Kaduna Polytechnic. Outside the Kaduna Polytechnic, he belongs to professional societies such as Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS) and the Nigerian Society of Mining Engineers (NSME). He has also served on many committees especially as a member of the Inter-ministerial Committee on the Accelerated Take-off of the National Institute of Mining and Geosciences, Jos. He has served many times on the Accreditation Team of the National Board for Technical Education (the supervisory body of all Nigerian Polytechnics) on Mining Engineering and Mineral Processing Engineering. In 2009, he chaired mining (trade subject) curriculum drafting committee for the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC). He is currently a resource consultant with the West African Examination Council (WAEC). He has served many companies and firms as consultant on mining or mineral processing; among these are Wardell Armstrong UK , Ecophoenix Nigeria Ltd, Goidel Nigeria Ltd. Dr Damisa was a World Bank Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of Science and Technology Post-Basic Education Project for Kaduna Polytechnic and between 2001 and 2013, the Project Manager of Science and Technology Post-Basic Education Project (STEP B) at the Nigerian Institute of Mining and Geosciences, Jos.

A gentleman par excellence, Dr Damisa is a devout Christian, whose philosophy is the meaning of his name Ebenezer: God is my helper. He says and preaches it that everything about him is by God’s grace alone. A versatile academic with strong linkages to industry, he is a Registered Mining Engineer with the Council of Mining Engineers and Geoscientists (COMEG). Dr. Damisa is married and the marriage is blessed with children.
